Fancee Feest Alcohol Stove
11/30/15 Today I received my Fancee Feest Alcohol stove from Zelf's Stove Works. The thing is tiny! Weighs 0.8 ounces. Is 2.5 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. Of course I had to test it right away so I poured 3/4 ounces of denatured alcohol in, put 2 cups of 63F water in my 12cm cup, put the top on the cup and lit the fire. Lit easily. It took 6 min and 45 seconds to come to a rolling boil. I didn't time it but the fire kept going for about another three or four minutes. The two things I like about it compared with my DIY stove is that it weighs half as much and the flame is smaller so not as much heat is lost out to the sides.
Another difference is that the Fancee Feest is ready to go the minute you light it whereas the other one takes about a minute and a half to prime. Using 3/4 ounces of denatured alcohol and 63F water with my home made one in the same pot and same physical situation the fire went out six and a half minutes, just as the water began to boil. |
So that minute and a half of priming time for the DIY stove hurt the overall performance. Clearly the efficiency of the Fancee Feest is higher. It seems like a much better way to go.
