Blue Mound State Park with grandkids - Aug 18-20
2019-08-22 Sharon and I just enjoyed a 2 night tent camping trip Sunday and Monday nights at Blue Mound State Park with Millie and Elijah. Excellent park for a low impact experience. Site 45 was great. No tent pad but plenty room and a broom easily cleared the larger gravel so the tent floor wasn't too rough.
We walked a personalized version of the Flint Rock Nature Trail, enjoyed the swimming pool and had ice cream at the Blue Mound Citgo and Grocery at the turn onto Mound Rd off state road ID.
The campground was not at all full Sunday and Monday nights but I think every site was booked for the weekend. Very pleasant place to camp though activities are limited to hiking, swimming and whatever you want to do like table games. UNO ended our day both nights! We did visit Cave of the Mounds which everyone enjoyed and is only about five minutes away.
Devil's Lake Birthday Party Camp out - Aug 12-14, 2019
2019-08-17 This past Monday through Wednesday my son and I took his son (my grandson) and 10 friends on a two night camping trip to Wisconsin's Devil's Lake State Park. As chief cook and bottle washer I got a workout! But it was fun. What a good, energetic and noisy bunch to teenage guys! I was proud of my grandson and his choice of friends. Devils Lake is an amazing park with a beautiful and fun lake, almost mountain-like surrounding hills, excellent group camp sites and outstanding trails. Then there are rock formations like The Devil's Doorway shown in the pictures which are world class. Great place to camp.
