August 4-5, 2018 Wisconsin River Canoe Trip
The morning after... our Faith Chapel Wisconsin River Canoe trip. We entered the river near Mazomanie Oak Barren's State Natural Area just south of Sauk City about 10:00am Saturday and exited at the Hwy 14 bridge Sunday around 3:00pm. Eleven canoes with two people each plus five or six pre-school kids! No one flipped a canoe. A few of us "grounded" on a hidden sandbar or two... Only one canoe got lost, but then found alive and well!
Food was amazing and plentiful... thanks Daniel, Peter and all. The sandbar we camped on was great... maybe a little too sandy... just kidding, Andy. My canoe partner was a good paddler... thanks Elijah (13 yr old grandson). The river was just right... thanks God. Both the Saturday evening rain and Sunday morning thunder storms were brief and non threatening. (Well, the Sunday one was a little threatening but turned almost gentle... THANK YOU GOD!). And thank you Peter and Jon for soothing us with ukulele, guitar and your melodious voices during and after the Sunday morning thunderstorm!
The fellowship and camaraderie were great and fun... thank you everyone. The long, hot shower when I got home last night was amazing as was sleeping in my own real bed! My Outdoor Vitals sleeping mat was great, but no substitute for my bed at home!
Special thanks to Andy and Daniel for organizing and leading our wonderful experience. You host a great God honoring party on the river!
The only negative I can come up with is that it's a year until we go again!
(Sorry, no pictures. Didn't want to take my phone or camera on the river.)
